I don't always get families.
They begin in passion.
Sometimes they tear apart.
But often they bring joy rarely experienced elsewhere.
resentments, humor, irritation, restaurants, car parts, art supplies, laundry, hugs, glares, tears, arguments, pride.
So much stuff for a small group of people. Must be really strong bonds to fuss and love so much.
After my brother died of suicide, I realized I was grieving the bad memories, as well as the good .
Every memory needed it's own grief.
Ultimaltely they will recede.
It takes a long, long time.
Ultimaltely they will recede.
It takes a long, long time.
In fact Junes and Novembers are still pretty difficult.
Families make the world go around.
They extend and extend & contract and contract.
The family mobile is balanced just right until an upset sends it swinging perilously!
But in the end it balances again.
Alexander Calder invented a new type of sculpture.
His new works were called mobiles because they move. Instead of anchoring these three-dimensional works to the ground, Calder usually suspended them from the ceiling to allow them to float freely in space.
Like families.
