Hay is for Horses

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well Alfalfa, actually.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alfalfa pellets are great for a pony; a large, sturdy, feisty, spotted pony who has to lead. He HAS to lead, an appaloosa, who jumps, pulls and dances, who wants to dash away, dash away from the slow poke ponies carrying little tiny girls.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So here goes the feisty guy, moving out on the hillside trail, top of Helen Putnam Park, trotting then running flat out! Dash! Dash, goes the feisty one! Dash away!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey! Don't leave Misty!
She's dancing and jumping shaking her head with irritation.
"Let me go! Let me run!
I need to catch up with Chief,
NOW!"
Then, with a gentle press with my heels, she dashes!
Faster and faster that little pony goes up front!
Faster and faster Misty goes, keeping up,
with steel shoes ringing on the hardpacked path.
Clang, clang, faster and faster.
Oh, my God, I say (praying to my Lord!)
This is F-A-S-T!! Too fast, maybe.
Ka clang, ka clang, clangier and clangier!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hold on I say.
You can do it I say.
You've been taking lessons for 4 years I say.
And a 15 year old is galloping away faster than you!!
And you've got a helmet on!
And Misty's never fallen yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whoooweeee!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Huffing and puffing (me, not Misty),
the pony slows to turn back to the slow pokes,
then off he goes,
gallop , gallop again, clang clang ka clang!
Whoa! Whoa!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Little slowpoke ponies stand around in the middle of the path!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 15 year old stops on a dime.
The 57 year old bounces and flops to a stop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What fun is that?!
That is F-U-N!!
