crab feed

There's nothing like a community crab feed.

A benefit for somethin'er other.
Music in schools, diabetes foundation, a rod and boat club, or a jr. horseman's club.

Most recently I attended the latter. Dressed up in cowpoke~wear...ridin' boots and a new snap-up cowgirl shirt.
Everyone crowded into the Horsemen's Hall.
Drinks were to the right, if you could squeeze through the crowd.
Then dinner.
Volunteers kept rounds of cracked crab, melted butter, green salad and garlic bread 'a comin'. What a deal, though for quite a dear price. Ate 'til I was stuffed.
That was my crab for the season, seeing as how I'm the only one in the house who loves crab and it's no fun eating it alone.

As a kid, the brothers ate like animals, tossing the empty shells onto our little sister plates for speed's sake...and for room on their own plates.
"Hey, HEY!"

Green, crunchy iceberg lettuce, and golden, crunchy garlic bread. Homemade mayonnaise with extra lemon. You like fresh crab or you don't. And everybody eats it their own way. I like to pick out all the crabmeat, smother in mayo, douse it with more lemon, then dig in! It's hard to decide whether to fill up on crab, salad or bread...and I do fill up, way up!

Crab feeds have raffles. Buy tickets and win big. Go home stuffed and a winner. Who wants to go?

If you haven't been to one here's a look:
