Computer Geek, Nerd or Dork?

Which one are you?

First of all, what is the definition of a Geek, Nerd or Dork?
My son-in-law wondered.
Here are my personal definitions:

Geek: Bill Gates/Steve Jobs

Nerd: Someone who is quite competent on the computer and the "online".

Dork: Myself. I know a little here and a little there, but for the serious stuff I go to the sibs. They know their stuff.

It's good to have the Geek Moguls, with all their fanfare, come up with dibs and dabs of new and exciting programming, hardware, software and so on. It's fun to imagine a brand new Apple Computer shining on the desk!


One drawback: the Moguls/Zillionaires have no idea what the rest of us need and use. Buying a new computer should be like the new Build-a-Bear and Build-a-Mr. Potato Head, you pick your parts! (we saw the latter in DSYLND. Cool! Custom Potato Head!)


Please Mr. Computer Magnate, let us pick out our own desired gadgets and tricks...We could customize the little machine to our own special way of thinking. Believe it or not, some of us are "learning different" and proud to be so! Some are right brained or left brained or whatever it is that you guys are NOT!

I do not want Text Coding or a Privacy Report.
Nor would I pick the Office Assistant. He just bugs me!
And, please I do not want to Insert a Hyperlink.


Maybe someday my children can speak personally to Gates/Jobs and ask for simplicity in the next prototype.
Just think of it, computers for the old folks and dorks.
Easy, now, don't get too excited.

Keep it Simple is not a slogan for these modern times.

The new slogan is more like Keep it Complicated.
