Underwater antics show mother whales cradling infants.
Constantly in touch by flukes.
Parenting, teaching, playing.
My oldest brother cared for the 3 of us.
Shielded us, nurtured us, took on too much for us.
Children parenting children.
For his surrender, I am grateful.
Friends' mothers took me under their wing, without great fanfare.
They let me play and showed me a wider world, as they continue to do.
Teachers guided me, valued my intelligence, forgave my shyness.
Then thanks for my dear friends.
They accept my quirks, my humor, my creativity.
Friends who stick around while I learn.
A sister lets me love her and loves me back, gosh we laugh!
My mom. A gift of life, thank you, for doing your best.
For loving me as best you could.
For liking me best in the end.
Thank goodness for that.
