A bright neon green leafy patterned spandex fabric caught my eye.
"No, Ma'am!", the sales woman announced firmly.
"You do not want to use a stretchy fabric for a quilt!"
"No, Ma'am! You may not use neon green for a baby quilt!" (she's doubting my artistic intelligence)
"No, Ma'am! Those fabrics you've chosen do not go together for a patchwork quilt!" (I'm in trouble)
"Ma'am, you must not use 3 wildly patterned fabrics for a baby blanket, you must have a 3rd neutral color!" (she's sure I'm a complete moron)
"Ma'am...maybe, maybe, if you only use tiny appliqued bits of this purple, gold, red, white, green, and tourquoise Japanese-style fabric onto a neutral color....

And save the metallic green, teal, chysanthemum fabric for backing only, there may be a possibility of success." (she's doubtful)
I buy 2 patterned pieces and 1 yellow piece of fabric.
I make a quilt for my nephew's baby-to-be: I start at 8 p.m. Go to sleep at 2:00 a.m. Finish between 6 a.m. and 11:00 Get out of my pajamas and dress up.
Leave 15 minutes later for the baby shower. I wanted to do it right. I ended up , as usual, doing it in my own crazy chaotic way.
I couldn't please the sales lady at Britex, but I pleased the parents-to-be and I had a heck of a lot of fun Welcome Baby!
