My Brother is dealing with Parkinson's Disease.
My brother loves dogs.
He's always had a dog.
I found this information online.
I hope it helps anyone dealing with this condition.
The Service Dog Project, Inc. is a 501 c3 non-profit charity. Our mission is to increase the number of service dogs available to people who are mobility- impaired. To train these service dogs, we utilize the training skills acquired while running “Animal Episodes,” which for thirty years provided animal actors to the media in New England.
Our main focus is training Great Danes and other large breed dogs to assist balance-impaired people. This would include, but not be restricted to, Parkinson’s and MS patients. Preference is given to Veterans and their families.
Specially trained service dogs can help those with Parkinson's disease stay active and independent.
Service dogs have been trained to fulfill a variety of needs, including guiding the blind, pulling wheelchairs, and assisting those who suffer from epileptic seizures. In recent years, specially trained assistance dogs have proven particularly valuable for those who suffer from Parkinson’s disease.
