I bought a little plastic pencil sharpener at Long's.

Maybe it'll be better to use one at my table than walking across the room. Walking across the room while children are working causes all work to stop. Those 2 minutes away leave the door wide open for lollygagging.

Did you do the row of of addition problems??

"Huh?"

Children, you can work independently can you not?

"What?"

That means working on your math all by yourself without the teacher's help.

"I donwanna do this. I can't do it. I don't get it."

I no longer sit at the table. I walk around the table. I step and pace and pause and point and step and pace and point again. I try using their cute little number lines. I try using plastic markers, but no, they hate math.

Maybe I need to use Little Peeps to get their attention. Then, if they added 3 + 6 = 7 Peeps, they'd be so sick they'd all call mom to go home.

Not very nice, but wouldn't that be a calm day.

I could get MY work done!
