This is a grackle.
Isn't he gorgeous?
He shimmers in blues, opalescent, like peacock ore.
But no, my bird, big and bold, attempting to reach the suet, was no grackle.
He was a starling!
Evil, aggressive, bossy in mobs. They take over.
All these black birds take over...ravens, crows, starlings.
They chase off the competition.
The hawks, vultures and any other bird that will flee.
They are wily and sneaky survivors.
Fascinating though they are,
those mobs of black birds might take over my bird garden.
..........He
He (she?) hasn't been back.
I may need to ready the gardening flip flops and plastic pots.
I may need to rush out and throw things high and fast!
He'd better keep away!
And by the way, get off my property ravens!!
