The BBC reports on hunting or "blood sports" as some call it, with hounds. But the dogs don't do the killing, they do the scoping around and they chase. The hunter does the hunting. The gatherer takes care of the game and cooks up a tasty, though gamey, dinner.
It's ancient, hunting is.
Man does it and always has. Woman, too.
So let's not get huffy.
It's
ok.
One time PETA protested in front of our local slaughter house,
or "knacker's" in the British, with signs proclaiming "Animals are NOT Food!"
T and I thought to ourselves,
"Yes they are."
We eat them all the time.
Especially farm animals raised for that purpose.
This is an
agricultural area,
or
ag, if you're local.
So, to get to my point,
The BBC reports on hunting with hounds.
A controversial subject.
It is considered a sport and I guess hunting is a sport when the hunter is not needing the meat for survival.
And what is wrong with hunting,
as long as the animal is populous and common?
Like deer.
Or rabbits.
Or birds.
If you are queasy, skip it.
We shall agree to disagree.
Otherwise, click on the basset hound to read
about hunting with basset hounds.
My favorite part of the BBC article:
"Harriers and beagles are bred for speed, scent and stamina - basset hounds are said to make up for their relative lack of speed with excellent scenting ability and great 'voice'."
Oh!
So that's what that yowling's about.
It's a great voice.woooo oooo whoaoooooo! And about the lack of speed?
They just do not remember the speed basset...in her younger days.
Go get the vermin Sherman!
