Wary Raven

Birth of the People by Bill Reid

Did I know how wary a loud, demanding raven could be?

(I didn't say obnoxious!)

There, up top the birch, the bird cried out his squawk, demanding full attention from the family over in the cedar. I'm sneaky, tiptoeing behind the jasmine, peeking with my camera. I've got the settings set...slowly, ever so slowly, peering around the vine to get the shot. Focus, focusing....

whoosh,

over my head he soars, diving down over the back yard. "Nice try!" I got some lovely fuzzy photos of the sky.

Tricky and sneaky, an incredibly smart bird, hoping to snack on a crunchy baby woodpecker hid away in a tree hole outside the kitchen. I've been out already this morning, throwing tennis balls at the carnivorous, screeching starlings. No babies for any of you!
