...but Google is celebrating Hans Christian Ørsted's birthday today!






Ørsted (1777-1851 Rudkøbing, Denmark) was a physicist and chemist who is most widely known for observing that electric currents can induce magnetic fields, an important aspect of electromagnetism.

I know what electricity is and I know you've got to wrap long lengths of wire around and around and around and I know that leads to some kind of magnet kind of thing, but that's the extent of my understanding. Check with T to find out more.

I won't give up, T, I'll keep trying to understand those minus signs (-----) that flow out of the plug outlets (electrons?) I really will.
