What keeps us going in teaching?
Certainly not the praise from bureaucrats.
Scant support from the media.
But, there is help and hope from certain parents.
Bringing in snacks, supplies, smiles.
Showing up for an arduous field trip.
Boasting of their daughter's progress.
But the little hug, the pleases and thank yous and the bright smiles after math success, these occaisions fuel my day.
Special moments are the best!
"Mrs. H.!, Mrs. H.!"
"Mrs. H., I want to ask you something.
I was just wondering,
how ARE you?!
How have you been? Really, I want to know!"
This comes after recess.
It's been soooooooooo long,
my long lost friend needs to check in.
Now that is one satisfying day!
Someone cares.
I walk on air, chuckling all the way through the rest of the week.
