And by the way...

Halloween is almost here.

You must have seen all the candy corn, bags and bags of it on sale in the stores.
And all those pumpkins in front selling for $7 for the big ones at Safeway.

And if you teach little kids, you must be going to the pumpkin farm on a field trip. Orange busses taking tired children home with orange pumpkins in laps.

Also, you must be making lots and lots of pumpkins in centers.
Artsy and Academic, big and brilliant, five colors of orange, with green for the stem, but sometimes green gets glued all over the pumpkin.
Artists have their creative ideas.

Next week children will scoop out the seeds and goo.
"Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww, slimy!!!"
They will wear costumes on Halloween day. They will traipse around, over excited, in the Halloween parade.
(All weapons will be confiscated, do you hear me Vampires and Villains!?)
and eat cupcakes and candy and popcorn balls and chocolate.
They will head out that night with parents, trick or treating until exhausted and still more. Dentists and health conscious homebodies will pass out toothbrushes, apples, nuts and raisins, which will be tossed away or saved by Mom for lunch boxes.

The day after Halloween the children will be Zombies.
(appropriate for the holiday, but too late.)
And grouchy and over excited and sleep deprived and sick from too many sweets.

There may be some learning taking place, but mainly there will be slumped tired bodies, rubbed eyes, whining, sighing and possibly flopping about.

Teachers will be patient, hopefully, unless they are exhausted themselves by the biggest holiday for kids.

I'm dressing up as a cowgirl.
Easy choice, cuz I got the stuff.
