***I really like going out to Chinese restaurants.
* * * Not Chinese restaurants in which the waiters do not bring you plates when they bring the dishes of, if not good, at least ok food.
* No plates with dinner baffles the patron. * * *
* * * I am aware that many people use chopsticks to grab the food off the dish, but don't they have plates to put said food onto?
* And don't they have chopsticks? * Not to mention dishes for food?
* No plates for us. *
here and there . Silk flowers in the bathroom smell too perfumed, yeach. *
* * *But the tables and chairs have hints of pretend bamboo and the room is dark for some ambience. Way too large glasses of water look similar to the bubbly glasses we used to get at Cost Plus, not looking very Thai.
* * *But oh well, they are trying. *
* * * We settle. Four to a tiny table. *
* * * We are chatting and laughing and looking at photos. We are unaware that the waiter has finally joined us and is sighing.
* * * We look up to see her walk off. *
* * * Here's the waiter again, standing waiting, sighing. *
* * * We guiltily order, sorry to have put off the waitperson. *
* * *She wanders off with our order.
* * * We wait for tea. Or at least an offer: Would you like tea? *
* * * No offer is made, no tea appears. *
* * * We wait. We try to flag someone down as they wander off to the one and only other occupied table in the whole place. *
* * * Later, we ask Could we please have plates for our dinner? Ok. *
* * * Then the server is gone, as we sit there waiting nicely.
* * * Plates come.
* * * Then the sighing waiter brings one plate of food, which she uses to push photos, glasses of water and utensils out of the way perilously close to the table edge. We think it's salad, it sits steaming. *
* * * Where is the rice? Where is the rest of our order? *
***We wait. Oh, here it comes two months later, shoved onto the table. OW! says the waiter. We guess the plate is hot.
* * * Where is the rice? Is not rice part of the dinner? Where is it? *
* * * We wait politely, and wait and wait.
* * * Food is cooling on the table.
* * * Now we have plates. We eat a little of the food with no rice and wait...for rice. Which had been ordered with the food. *
* * * We look for the waiter. We wave our hands up like school children that know the answer. We are passed by, several times.
* * * One of us who can't stand it any longer walks to the counter which is 3 feet from the table.
* * * Someone looks up.
* * * May we please have rice with our meal?
***Later the rice comes and we eat the ok food.
They want to know if we want after dinner coffee.
They ask if we want desert.
Yes, we want to desert this place! We're outta here!
