A Bunch of Doggerel

"Doggerel" usually refers to trivial or inferior writing, but it could also be comic verse, or filthy verse, which came from "dog-rime." (whaaat? I'm getting lost here) Most sources analyze the word as "little dog", suggesting something that is contemptible and inferior prose and poetry, as in the epithet "You dog, you!!"

THE FOLLOWING IS AN EXAMPLE OF DOGGEREL:

"TURKEY DAY"
What's next? Here I sit, waiting for it.
I go to Long's, I must be wrong.
Red and green is all that's seen.

We lost Thanksgiving somehow.
Went straight to ribbons and bows.
Halloween was exhausting.
Longer nights are defeating.

Bears are hibernating.
How can I go on living?!

At least at school all is cool,
We're making turkeys in different ways.
Cutting, gluing, feathers and tails
onto paper plates and pinecones,
Let's make sure these are shown!

Orange and brown?
Search in town.
Thanksgiving has vanished
before it's been known.

If Macy's and Target,
could remember the market
means more than just money
That'd be funny!
